معنی: انتقاد کردن – سرزنش کردن – محکوم کردن، انتقاد و سرزنش
حالت: این کلمه هم یک فعل و هم یک اسم است.
مترادف ها: criticize، condemn, denounce, objurgate, rebuke, reprimand, reproach, reprove
توضیح:
اگر اهل انتقاد باشید، censure کلمه ای رسمی است که باید حتماً آن را یاد بگیرید. البته در این کلمه انتقاد به معنی واقعی کلمه شدید و نیش دار می باشد. censure در حالت فعل به معنی انتقاد شدید کردن و در حالت اسم انتقاد شدید است. در زبان رسمی فارسی شاید بتوان آن را معادل نکوهش کردن دانست. یک مادر ممکن است دخترش را بخاطر به هم ریختن اتاقش censure کند.
هر دانشجویی حتماً یک بار هم که شده سر کلاس خوابیده است ( حد اقل به خواب رفته است!). حال فرض کنید استاد دانشجوی خفته را می بیند و به بغل دستی اش می گوید او را بیدار کند. پس از بیدار شدن، استاد مزبور شروع می کند به صحبت از عوض شدن زمانه و اینکه دانشجویان این روز ها هیچ احترامی برای کلاس و درس و دانشگاه قائل نیستند و در زمان ما چنان بود و امروزه چنین است و خلاصه حسابی آن دانشجو را به خاطر خوابیدن سر کلاس censure می کند.
شما هم ممکن است دوستتان را بعلت اینکه بدون اجازه شما گوشی همراهتان را برداشته و angry bird بازی کرده censure کنید. حال فرض کنید رئیس جمهور کشور X ترور می شود و بسیاری از کشورهای دنیا معتقدند کشور Y در این ترور دست داشته است. در این شرایط شما ممکن است در اخبار بشنوید:
- The country “Y” faces international censure for its alleged involvement in the assassination of the president of the country “X”.
حال اگر بخواهیم همین جمله را با حالت فعل کلمه censure بیاوریم، باید بگوییم:
- The country “Y” is censured by many countries for its alleged involvement in the assassination of the president of the country “X”.
یا فرض کنید روزنامه ها یک پیشنهاد مالیات ارائه شده در مجلس را به باد انتقاد می گیرند:
- The newspapers were unanimous in their censure of the tax proposal.
یا کمیته بررسی دلیل ناکامی ورزشکاران یک کشور(!)، ورزشکاری را بخاطر ناتوانی در کسب مدال طلا سرزنش می کند(وی را به باد انتقاد می گیرد):
- He was censured by the committee for his failure to win the gold medal.

germane به معنی “در مورد” یا “about” نیست. در مثال بالا شما باید به جای germane از کلمه about استفاده کنی.
بجای speeds بهتره بگی speed و البته فعلش رو هم به is بدی.
حالا مجبوری یه مثال دیگه بیاری؟! چون Germane که باید حذف بشه! یا شایدم بتونی همین مثال رو جوری عوض کنی که بشه germane توش گذاشت.

ببین، شما می تونی بگی استدلال یه نفر germane به یه بحث نیست. می تونی بگی یه سوال germane به یه جلسه نیست. اما توی جمله بالا منظور شما اینه که دولت مسئول این مشکل نیست، درسته؟

How should the parents behave with their inept child?
Some parents are used to censuring their children for an ineptness, in public. Psychologists believe that children’s future life can be profusely affected by this behaviour. Some effects can be listed as follows:
– The child will lose his/her self-confidence little by little.
– The child will get unmotivated.
– The child will be at greater risk of addiction.
